2011 Los Angeles Walk for Hope - November 6, 2011 (Sunday) at City of Hope in Duarte

LSCOBA Southern California Chapter has formed a team to participate in the Walk for Hope 2011 organized by City of Hope to support women's cancer treatment, research and education. This is the 7th straight year of our Chapter's participation and the 15th anniversary for Walk for Hope Los Angeles.
Funding research is the only way to improve treatments and find ways to prevent and ultimately cure this disease. City of Hope has made much progress and we are proud to be a part of their work.
Our team participated in the 2K walk and raised close to $1000. There was heavy rain in the morning throughout the first half of the walk. But despite the bad weather, the turnout was marvelous. For the first time ever, the event raised over $1 million and had a record number of over 10,000 participants. Everyone had a good exercise through the heart of City of Hope's Duarte campus for a good cause and enjoyed the entertainment, sponsor booths and giveaways.
The event was a resounding success and ended at around noon. The team then joined our Dim Sum regulars at Empress Harbor Seafood Restaurant in Monterey Park afterwards.
Thanks to all team members and contributors. Special thanks to Stephen Chiu, Vivian and David Sin, Vincent Chan, K.P. Wong, Eddie Yu, Eddie Shek, Sampson Chan, Caesar Mak, Peter Chan, Charles Tsang, Johnson Chao, Gordon Chung, Thomas Tsui and all those who couldn't join the walk but sponsored and fully supported our team. We are looking forward to your support again next year.

La Salle Day Thanksgiving Mass - May 15, 2011 (Sunday) at St. Bridget Chinese Catholic church, LA
The LSCOBA Southern California Chapter hosted its third annual La Salle Day Thanksgiving Mass (LSDTM) at St. Bridget Chinese Catholic Church (SBCCC) in Los Angeles. The celebration was coordinated by Henri Tran ('84). The date of this year’s Mass coincided exactly with the Feast Day of St. John Baptist de La Salle. Father John Lam, pastor of SBCCC, was the celebrant. Honoring the occasion were Brother La Salle Bossong and Brother Chris Patino from the neighboring Cathedral High School as well as Brother De Sales Benning from La Salle High School in Pasadena.
After Father Lam gave solemn blessing, the Mass ended joyously. Everybody was eager to take group pictures with Rev. Brothers and Father Lam at the church entrance and followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.
